Frequently asked questions

Copper bar, copper ingot or copper bullion — what's the difference?

The terms often overlap. A copper bar is a solid piece of copper; an ingot usually refers to a cast shape, while bullion refers to metal held in physical form. At Coppervm, you receive a 1 kg bar of 99.99% oxygen-free C10100 copper with a unique serial number and certificate of authenticity.

Why do we use C10100 copper?

C10100 is oxygen-free electronic copper (OFE), with at least 99.99% copper and no more than 5 ppm oxygen. It is a defined material grade with strict limits on impurities. We choose this grade for every copper bar we make, and each bar comes with a unique serial number and certificate of authenticity.

What is XRF purity verification?

XRF (X-ray fluorescence) is the industry standard for non-destructive metal analysis. Every batch of bars is tested with a calibrated XRF spectrometer that produces an elemental composition profile down to the ppm level. The result is documented in the included certificate of analysis (COA).

Do bars come with a certificate of authenticity (COA)?

Yes — every purchase includes a signed certificate of authenticity listing the bar's individual serial number, verified purity percentage and XRF analysis date. The certificate makes the bars fully traceable and verifies their collector value.

Can I order custom laser engraving?

Yes. Every bar carries the standard engraving of fineness, weight and a unique serial number. For your own text or a design, choose the Custom Engraved Bar and send us the text after ordering. You receive a proof to approve, and engraving only starts once you have approved it. The engraving is permanent and millimetre-precise. Bars made to your specification are non-returnable unless they arrive damaged.

Do you ship internationally and how much is shipping?

Yes — we deliver to 20 countries: the US, Canada, Australia, the UK and 16 more across Europe. Every parcel is insured and tracked, and arrives within 7 days. Shipping is $25 for the first item and $10 for each additional item, or $5 for each additional item once your order has 3 or more.

Do you offer bulk discounts?

Yes — we offer dedicated volume pricing for businesses, architects and collectors ordering larger quantities. Email us or use our contact page and we'll put together a tailored quote including price, delivery plan and optional engraving.

Are copper bars a good investment?

Copper is an industrial metal and a physical hard asset, and many buy copper bars as an affordable, tangible complement to gold and silver. The price per bar is fixed and doesn't move with the copper price (LME) day to day. It covers the metal plus finishing, a serial number, a certificate of authenticity and verification, so you pay more than the metal value alone. Think of a bar as a collectible in real copper, not a short-term investment. Read our guide "Is copper a good investment in 2026?" under Insights for a sober look before you buy.

What is the return policy?

You can return an order within 14 days of delivery. Let us know before the deadline and send the item back in substantially the same condition — you get a full refund, minus the return postage, which you pay. Bars with custom engraving or special markings are non-returnable unless they are damaged on arrival. Contact us with any complaint and we'll resolve it quickly.
